About this trip
Sixteen days covering the full sweep of Argentinian and Chilean Patagonia, bookended by two capital cities. It runs from Buenos Aires to Santiago (or the reverse, if that's where you land), taking in city life, glaciers, and mountains along the way.
You start in Buenos Aires with its European feel, good beef, and neighbourhoods like La Boca and Palermo, then fly south to Ushuaia, the southernmost city in the world, before heading to El Calafate for the glaciers of Los Glaciares National Park. From there you cross into Chile for Torres del Paine, finishing in Santiago with time for the wine regions and the coast.
It's a partially guided trip, so there's a mix of organised activity and time to explore on your own, at an easy pace given the amount of ground covered.
What you'll do
- Explore Buenos Aires neighbourhoods including La Boca, San Telmo, Recoleta and Palermo
- Ride the Train of the End of the World and visit Tierra del Fuego National Park from Ushuaia
- See Perito Moreno and other glaciers by boat on Argentino Lake
- Walk in Torres del Paine National Park in Chilean Patagonia
- Taste king crab and Patagonian lamb in Ushuaia, and Malbec and asado in Buenos Aires
- Visit Chile's wine country in Colchagua and Maipo, plus Valparaiso and Viña del Mar
- Covers a lot of ground by air and road across two countries, so expect internal flights between stops
- Can be booked to start in Buenos Aires or Santiago depending on where you arrive
- A separate version of this tour adds an Australis cruise for those wanting to include Cape Horn or Antarctica
