About this trip
This trip skips the private-resort version of the Maldives in favour of staying on inhabited local islands, guesthouse to guesthouse, in South Male Atoll. You get white beaches and clear water, but also a real sense of how Maldivians actually live.
Days are split between island hopping, snorkelling over coral and marine life, and simple visits to family homes, mosques and boat yards. It is a slower, more grounded way to see the country, aimed at people who want beach time without the resort price tag.
