Taste of Salento-Authentic Culinary Experience

Marina Serra → Brindisi 7 days Up to 6

About this trip

Seven days based at a single family-run masseria in the Salento countryside, surrounded by eleven hectares of olive groves and three kilometres from the Adriatic coast. This is a slow, settled kind of trip — you unpack once and let the region come to you.

The masseria itself is part of the experience: a working organic farm with its own oil production, an organic garden, and a small restaurant where the owners cook traditional Apulian dishes from what they grow. You'll join cooking classes using these same ingredients, and have the option of home-cooked dinners on site.

From this base you explore Salento's Baroque towns and the coast nearby, with the pace shaped by the season — olive harvest in autumn and winter, sea and sun in summer, art and architecture year-round.

What you'll do

  • Stay at a working masseria set among olive groves
  • Join cooking classes using produce from the organic garden
  • Try the estate's own biological olive oil
  • Eat traditional handmade dishes at the on-site restaurant
  • Visit Salento's Baroque art towns
  • Spend time on the Adriatic coast, a few kilometres away
Good to know
  • Private and fully guided, with an easy pace throughout
  • Guaranteed departure requires a minimum of two participants
  • Nearest arrival points are Lecce train station or Brindisi Airport, both some way from the masseria
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you value authenticity, cooking tuition, and genuine family hospitality over conventional tourism. Think twice if you're paying premium prices and end up as a solo guest without prior warning.

  • Emilio's cooking classes and explanations of ingredients and methods are genuinely memorable—guests still dream about dishes months later.
  • Farm-based itinerary with daily siestas and free time beats the exhausting hotel-to-hotel grind; feels like staying with actual friends.
  • One guest was the sole attendee for the entire week but wasn't told this upfront—affects group dynamics and perceived value.
  • Pool may not be operational early in season; spring flowers compensate but worth knowing if swimming was a draw.
