About this trip
This is a private, coach-based tour that runs the classic route across Japan, from Osaka up to Tokyo, taking in the country's mix of ancient temples, old post towns and modern city life along the way.
You'll move through Nara, Kyoto and Nagoya before heading into the mountains around Nagano and Mt Fuji, then finishing in Tokyo. An English-speaking guide travels with you throughout, and breakfast and entry fees to the listed sights are covered.
It's a straightforward, well-organised way to see a broad slice of the country without arranging transport or entry tickets yourself, staying in comfortable 3-star hotels along the way.
What you'll do
- See the deer roaming free at Nara Park
- Visit Kyoto's historic temples and streets
- Walk through the preserved Edo-era post town of Naraijuku
- Take in views of Mt Fuji from the Yamanashi/Nagano area
- Explore Tokyo at the journey's end
- You change base most nights across the 8 days, so expect a fair amount of travel by coach
- Hotels are 3-star and comfortable rather than luxury
- Guided throughout in English, with sightseeing entries already included
Worth it if you want Japan's highlights efficiently covered with strong guides. Think twice if you need leisurely exploration or dislike van time.
- Guides Kentaro, Steve, and Andre consistently delivered deep historical and cultural knowledge throughout.
- Significant van time between destinations left travellers wanting longer stays and more free exploration at each location.
- 3-star hotels were consistently praised; itinerary compressed Japan's major sites—Osaka, Mount Fuji, Hiroshima, Tokyo—into eight days effectively.
- Fast-paced schedule suits those seeking highlights and group dynamics; less suitable for slow travellers or solo explorers.
