About this trip
This nine-day route takes you from Osaka to Tokyo, crossing through Nara, Kyoto, Nagoya, the old post town of Naraijuku, and the Mt Fuji area along the way. You're based in 4-star hotels throughout, with a smaller group of 10-20 people rather than a full coach load.
It's a straightforward, guided sightseeing trip — an English-speaking guide travels with you, and city-to-city transport is handled by coach, so you're not managing trains or transfers yourself. Eight nights in Japan, with three each in Osaka and Tokyo giving you a bit more time to settle in at either end.
Note that the tour needs a minimum of 10 guests to run, so it's worth checking in before locking in flights.
What you'll do
- Explore Osaka over three nights as your starting base
- Visit Nara and Kyoto's historic sites
- See the old post town of Naraijuku on the way east
- Pass through the Nagano/Yamanashi region near Mt Fuji
- Finish with three nights in Tokyo
- Group size is capped at 10-20 travellers
- A minimum of 10 guests is needed for the tour to go ahead, so confirm before booking flights
- Breakfast is included daily but lunches and dinners are not
Worth it if you're fit, flexible with pacing, and want a Japan overview. Think twice if you need deep cultural immersion, hate rushed schedules, or want certainty pre-booking.
- Itinerary is genuinely rushed: five active days across 9 days total, with long bus stretches and barely time to eat lunch without queuing through departures.
- Hotel quality wildly inconsistent despite 'deluxe 4-star' branding—one reviewer got a dorm-type motel in a rough neighbourhood, another's Tokyo hotel was 40km from city centre.
- Guide quality varies sharply: some excellent and knowledgeable, others rushed, dismissive of questions, or didn't enter sites to explain history and context properly.
- Bus driver and group dynamics consistently praised; diverse fellow travellers and smooth travel logistics created genuine friendships and comfort.
