About this trip

This trip runs the length of Vietnam over 12 days, starting in Ho Chi Minh City in the south and finishing in Hanoi in the north, with Hoi An marking the central stretch.

The route is built around noticing the differences between Vietnam's three regions — the food, the pace, the way people live changes as you move north, and meals are a big part of how that comes through.

It's an easy-going, partially guided trip, with room for some flexibility along the way rather than a tightly fixed schedule.

What you'll do

  • Start exploring in Ho Chi Minh City
  • Travel through central Vietnam to Hoi An
  • Finish the route in Hanoi
  • Taste regional food styles from south, central and north Vietnam
  • Get a look at everyday local life along the way
Good to know
  • Partially guided, so some days give you freedom to explore on your own
  • Easy pace, suited to families and mixed groups
  • Runs south to north, so you cover a lot of the country in 12 days

What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want a well-organised, stress-free Vietnam intro with reliable guides and decent hotels. Think twice if you need detailed pre-trip intel on overnight trains or crave structured advice for free days.

  • Manh and guides are genuinely responsive, warm, and go beyond—free hotel upgrades, WhatsApp support, last-minute schedule changes handled instantly.
  • Transfers always punctual, hotels consistently clean with good breakfasts, itinerary flows seamlessly so you needn't organise anything yourself.
  • Train overnight leg lacks detail upfront—reviewers expected a dining car that wasn't there; little guidance given for free exploration days.
  • Ba Na Hills is busy and skippable; Hoi An is the standout highlight of the twelve days.
