About this trip
Twenty-two days on the move through Spain, France and Italy, travelling by train and public bus as the scenery changes from Andalusian plains to Riviera coastline to Ligurian cliffs.
You'll see flamenco in Seville, wander Gaudi's Barcelona, taste your way through Provence and climb through the cliff-top villages of Cinque Terre before finishing in Rome.
This is a fully guided group trip with an easy pace day to day, though the ground covered overall is considerable — plenty of time is spent simply watching the landscape go by.
What you'll do
- Watch flamenco in Seville
- Explore the Alhambra Palace in Granada
- See Gaudi's Sagrada Familia in Barcelona
- Eat and drink your way through Provence in the French Riviera
- Walk the cliff-top towns of Cinque Terre
- Finish in Rome
- Travel is by train and public bus, so pack light — you'll need to lift your own luggage onto racks and carry it over cobblestones and stairs
- Summer temperatures here can pass 40C, and many hotels have fans rather than air conditioning
- Hotel rooms tend to be small and central, and twin travellers often get two single beds pushed together rather than a double
