Uganda Gorillas, Chimps, Big 5 & Big Cats Safari

Start & end in Entebbe 9 days Up to 6

About this trip

Nine days across four of Uganda's parks, tracking gorillas, chimps and the Big 5 with a private guide throughout. You'll cover a lot of ground, from the thundering base of Murchison Falls to the dense forests of Bwindi.

Expect proper wildlife time rather than a checklist: game drives in Murchison, a boat trip beneath the falls, chimp trekking in Kibale, and a cruise along the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park where tree-climbing lions are a real possibility. The trip builds towards Bwindi and a day spent with mountain gorillas.

It's a private, fully guided trip, so pacing and stops are shaped around your group rather than a fixed coach schedule.

What you'll do

  • Track chimps on foot in Kibale Forest
  • Boat to the base of Murchison Falls and hike to the top
  • Game drive through Murchison Falls National Park for Big 5 sightings
  • Cruise the Kazinga Channel in Queen Elizabeth National Park
  • Watch for rare tree-climbing lions on the savannah
  • Trek to see mountain gorillas in Bwindi Impenetrable Forest
Good to know
  • Private tour — it's just your group and guide, not a mixed coach group
  • Moderate pace with early starts for trekking and game drives
  • Involves real hiking through forest terrain for both chimp and gorilla treks
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're after genuine wildlife encounters and can handle long drives on rough roads. Think twice if you need comfort or dislike early starts and physical demands.

  • Your guide makes or breaks it—Mutanda, Emma and Ibra all transformed trips from good to unforgettable through local knowledge and safe driving.
  • Gorilla trekking at Bwindi delivers genuinely magical moments; reviewers found it a signature experience even on repeat visits.
  • Long drives on difficult, muddy roads and physically demanding hikes are the reality; expect exhaustion, not a leisurely pace.
  • Meals are generous to the point of waste; accommodation quality varies but hosts are genuinely welcoming throughout.
