Epic Europe: Central & Italy

Berlin → Rome 24 days Up to 16

About this trip

Twenty-four days through seven countries, moving from Germany down through Central Europe into Italy and Slovenia. You will cover a lot of ground — Berlin, Krakow, Prague, Cesky Krumlov, Budapest, Lake Bled, then across into Italy for Venice, Tuscany and the coast — with a local leader and a fixed group throughout.

Expect city sightseeing, historic centres and a fair bit of walking, alongside public transport such as trams, trains and metros used the way locals do. It's a broad introduction to the region rather than a slow, deep dive into any one place.

The pace is steady rather than relaxed, with a new base every few days and plenty packed into each stop.

What you'll do

  • Take in Berlin's nightlife and history
  • Walk the Royal Route in Krakow
  • Wander the old towns of Prague and Cesky Krumlov
  • See Lake Bled in Slovenia
  • Explore Venice's canals and Tuscany's vineyards
  • Beach hop along the Italian coast
Good to know
  • You'll use local trams, trains, buses and metro at points, which can be busy and offer a genuine local commute experience
  • Pack light — cobbled streets, narrow stairs and hotels or stations without lifts mean you may need to carry your own bags some distance
  • Summer temperatures in parts of the route can exceed 40°C, and not all hotel rooms have air-conditioning, so consider the season carefully
