About this trip
A week-long loop through Germany, the Netherlands, Belgium, France and Luxembourg, starting and ending in Frankfurt. It moves at a fair clip, so expect a new city every day or two rather than time to settle in.
You'll take in Bonn and Cologne's Gothic cathedral before reaching Amsterdam, with a detour to the windmills of Zaanse Schans and, in spring, the Keukenhof gardens. From there the route runs south through Brussels to Paris, then back east via the Champagne region, Luxembourg, and the German towns of Trier and Koblenz.
It suits travellers who want a broad taste of Western Europe's big-name cities in one go, rather than depth in any single place.
What you'll do
- Visit Beethoven Haus and Cologne's Gothic cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage Site
- Wander Amsterdam's canals and the windmill town of Zaanse Schans
- See the Keukenhof gardens in bloom (21 March to 19 May only)
- Take in Paris's main sights and Brussels along the way
- Pass through the Champagne region around Reims
- Explore Luxembourg and the German towns of Trier and Koblenz
- Fast-paced — a new city most days, with limited time to linger in any one place
- Keukenhof is only included if your dates fall between 21 March and 19 May
- Partially guided, so some exploring is left to you
