Bali & Beyond

Denpasar → Labuan Bajo 18 days Up to 20

About this trip

Eighteen days moving through Indonesia's best-known and least-known corners, from Bali's surf towns and rice terraces to the wild volcanic islands further east. You start in Canggu, head up to Ubud, then island-hop out to the Gilis and Lombok before the trip's real centrepiece: three days on a private liveaboard sailing through the Komodo archipelago.

This is as much about the boat days as the land ones. You'll be swimming off remote beaches and climbing to viewpoints between stops, finishing on Komodo and Rinca where the dragons still roam wild.

It's a full mix of styles in one trip — beach town, mountain village, boat life — so expect variety over routine, with the group and guide a constant through all of it.

What you'll do

  • Surf and settle into the Canggu scene
  • Walk the rice terraces around Ubud
  • Island-hop across the Gilis and Lombok, including traditional villages and waterfalls
  • Sail three days aboard a private liveaboard through the Komodo region
  • Swim at remote, hard-to-reach beaches and climb viewpoints along the way
  • See Komodo dragons roaming free on Komodo and Rinca
Good to know
  • You change locations frequently, including a multi-day stretch living aboard a boat rather than in fixed accommodation
  • Suits travellers happy with a mix of beach, hiking and basic boat living rather than one steady base
  • Rated easy, but the liveaboard section means adapting to shared boat conditions for three days
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want curated Southeast Asia with stellar leadership and wildlife highlights. Think twice if you need flexibility—rainy season affects activities.

  • Tour leaders (Ibing, Monk) consistently organised group meals and handled logistics seamlessly, creating genuine friendships.
  • Snorkelling with manta rays, waterfalls, sunrise hikes and wildlife encounters (dolphins, turtles, dragons) delivered memorable experiences.
  • Rainy season meant some activity disruption; trip quality heavily dependent on your specific guide's competence.
  • Ideal for first-time Asia travellers seeking social group before solo backpacking; plenty of extras available beyond core itinerary.
