About this trip
Twelve days through Switzerland that moves from cities to mountains, built around some of Europe's most famous rail journeys. You start in Zurich and Lucerne before heading south to Lugano, then up into the high alpine world around St. Moritz and Zermatt.
The rail journeys are the spine of the trip — the Bernina Express through the Alps and the Glacier Express into car-free Zermatt beneath the Matterhorn. From there you loop back via Montreux's lakeside setting, a medieval castle, and a vineyard wine tasting, finishing with the ascent to Jungfraujoch.
It's an easy-paced, partially guided trip that suits families and groups who want variety — cities, scenery, wine, and mountains — without a strenuous itinerary.
