About this trip
This extends the classic Golden Triangle route beyond Delhi, Agra and Jaipur to include Udaipur and a stop in the rural village of Deogarh, so you get the big Mughal and Rajput sights alongside a quieter, more local side of Rajasthan.
Over 8 days you move through old and new Delhi, the Taj Mahal in Agra, the pink city of Jaipur, and Udaipur's lakes and palaces, with plenty of forts and history along the way.
It's a guided, sightseeing-heavy trip built around India's most famous landmarks, with a few local experiences — a rickshaw ride, an elephant ride, a boat trip on Lake Pichola — mixed in rather than just temple-and-fort hopping.
What you'll do
- Visit seven World Heritage Sites including the Taj Mahal, Agra Fort and Amber Fort
- Take a rickshaw ride through Delhi's old city streets
- Ride a horse cart in Agra and an elephant up to Amber Fort in Jaipur
- Try turban tying and palmistry in Jaipur
- Cruise Lake Pichola by boat and catch a puppet show in Udaipur
- Stop in the village of Deogarh to meet local residents
- Itinerary-driven and guide-led, with a lot of ground covered in eight days
- Suits families and groups after a structured, culturally rich introduction to India
- Includes seven nights' accommodation with daily breakfast and an English-speaking guide for sightseeing
Worth it if you want private guides and drivers with meticulous logistics. Think twice if budget hotels matter or you dislike shop stops.
- Private driver and individual guides in each city allowed genuine flexibility and personal attention throughout.
- Four-star Indian hotel ratings don't translate to European standards; some were subpar before removal from listings.
- Monument entry fees often excluded and don't accept cards; bring far more cash than expected for tips and food.
- Expect guides to show you textile and marble shops; polite refusal or non-purchase is acceptable but standard practice.
