An exciting new campaign in partnership with the South Australian Tourism Commission and Trailfinders is offering £10 flights to Adelaide for youth in the UK and Ireland looking to head down under on a working holiday visa.
The promotion, which is valid for bookings made before the end of October, is designed to make it easier for young people to explore Australia’s landscape and culture. This is a move similar to the one from the “ten pound poms” programme where people were hired to come and work in the UK and Australia.
As part of this campaign, jobs are available in hospitality, outback stations and on farms.
From May, Qatar Airways will begin offering 200 discounted return flights from Manchester, London Heathrow, Edinburgh, or Dublin to Adelaide.
How to apply for the £10 fares
To be eligible for these incredibly cheap flights, you must be aged between 18 and 30 in the UK or 18 and 35 in Ireland, prove that you have a working holiday visa and be able to travel to Adelaide before September 30th 2022.
But there’s more.
You’ll also need to purchase a holiday starter pack with Trailfinders which start from £162. This package includes a three-night stay in a hostel, vouchers, and information on how to set up an Australian bank account and find a job.
Here’s what the South Australian Minister for Tourism says
Zoe Bettison, Minister for Tourism in South Australia said: “South Australia is welcoming the return of working holiday makers – it’s a real win-win for young people eager to travel and work abroad, and for our local tourism industry.
“Our tourism operators have missed having international visitors on their tours and experiences and booking up accommodation, and they’ve also missed the backpacker workforce and the vibrancy they bring.
“These backpackers foster a love for our state and our country which often inspires them to return later in life.
“Whether it’s in our bars, restaurants, wineries and hotels, or on our outback stations and farms, there are so many ways that British and Irish citizens can work in Adelaide and in regional South Australia, helping to not only fill roles but provide an economic and cultural exchange benefit which advantages both sides of the globe.
“We look forward to welcoming back young people from the UK and Ireland, and encourage them to make the most of these £10 fares.”
What is an Australian working holiday visa?
An Australian working holiday visa is a great way to explore Australia while earning money. It’s a visa for young people who want to travel and work in Australia for up to a year.
There are a few different types of working holiday visas, but the most common one is the Working Holiday Visa – subclass 417. You can apply for this visa if you’re between 18 and 30 years old. With a working holiday visa, you can do any type of legal work in Australia. This includes jobs like waitressing, bartending, farming, construction, and more.
