Etosha NP, Swakopmund & Sossusvlei ( Camping) 8-Day

Start & end in Windhoek 8 days Up to 12

About this trip

Eight days across Namibia, camping your way from desert dunes to wildlife-rich plains, with a stop in a coastal town that looks nothing like what you'd expect from the middle of a desert.

You'll travel by 4WD through some genuinely dramatic landscapes: Etosha National Park's open plains where wildlife gathers at waterholes, the vast Fish River Canyon country, and the dunes at Sossusvlei, one of the most photographed spots in Namibia.

It's a camping trip through and through, so expect nights under big desert skies and a slower, more hands-on style of travel between stops.

What you'll do

  • Game drives in Etosha National Park
  • Wander the Art Nouveau streets of Swakopmund
  • Look out over one of Africa's largest canyons
  • Photograph or climb the dunes at Sossusvlei
  • Camp out under Namibia's desert skies
Good to know
  • Camping throughout — you'll need to be comfortable with tents and basic facilities
  • Travel is by 4WD over long desert distances, so some days involve extended drive time
  • Suits families and groups happy with an outdoors, hands-on style of trip
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want Namibia's highlights efficiently covered with a standout guide. Think twice if long driving days between sites will exhaust you.

  • Guide Shawn went beyond the tour—showed up at hotel end to drive you to airport when original transport fell through.
  • Covers three distinct landscapes (Etosha wildlife, Sossusvlei dunes, Atlantic coast) sensibly in eight days; five-year-olds enjoyed camping immensely.
  • Significant time spent driving between locations; long car days mean less energy to enjoy the destinations themselves.
  • Request guide Shawn Kashima by name if possible; he networks with rangers to find wildlife sightings in real time.
