About this trip
Seven days moving through Namibia's most striking landscapes, staying in lodges rather than camping, with a route built around wildlife, desert and the people who live alongside both.
You start with a visit to a wildlife sanctuary focused on conservation and rehabilitation, then head into Etosha National Park to look for predators and prey around its vast white pan. From there the trip runs through Damaraland's granite mountains, along the Skeleton Coast to Swakopmund, and finally into the Namib desert.
The final stretch is the standout — a pre-dawn drive to see Dead Vlei's dead trees and the dunes of Sossusvlei before the heat sets in, with oryx and springbok often visible along the way.
What you'll do
- Learn about wildlife conservation at N/a'an ku se Wildlife Sanctuary
- Track wildlife around the pans of Etosha National Park
- Meet Himba, Herero and Damara communities in Damaraland
- Drive the Skeleton Coast to the coastal town of Swakopmund
- Pre-dawn visit to Dead Vlei and Sossusvlei in the Namib desert
- Accommodated throughout — you sleep in lodges, not tents
- You change location most days, so it's a fairly fast-moving route
- Swakopmund offers optional adrenaline activities alongside downtime to relax
Worth it if you value seamless organisation, knowledgeable guides, and diverse landscapes. Think twice if you need frequent stops, animal guarantees, or prefer staying put.
- Guide quality is consistently excellent; Kennedy, Stafano, and Tulimo named specifically for knowledge, animal-spotting, and cooking.
- Seven days marketed but often runs as six; first day feels tacked on, not clearly positioned as optional add-on.
- Company-to-guide communication gaps: dietary needs and flight times sometimes not relayed, causing last-minute stress.
- Significant daily distances between locations mean long bus days; limited time at single sites, minimal wildlife guarantee in parks.
