About this trip
This trek takes you to the summit of Mount Toubkal, the highest peak in North Africa at 4,167m, but by a quieter route than most parties use. Instead of heading straight up from Imlil, you approach through Berber villages via Imi Oughlad, Tiziane and Tizi Oussem, so the mountain builds gradually rather than all at once.
The days before the summit push work in your favour twice over: they give you a proper look at rural High Atlas life, and they let your body adjust to altitude before the final climb. Fertile valleys and mountain passes lead you up through increasingly dramatic, rocky terrain.
Private and fully guided, the trip starts and ends in Marrakesh and suits fit hikers who want Toubkal without the crowds on the standard route.
