About this trip
Three days on the road between Fes and Marrakech, with the Sahara as the reason for the detour. You cross the Atlas Mountains and open desert plains before reaching Erg Chebbi, where the dunes rise properly high.
A camel takes you into the dunes for the night, spent at a Bedouin camp under open sky. Expect a shared meal, some desert music, and a sunrise or sunset that you'll watch from the sand rather than a bus window.
It's a one-way route rather than a loop, so you end up in a different city to where you started, with a good stretch of driving either side of the desert stop.
