About this trip
This four-day trip is based in Whitehorse, giving you a relaxed base from which to chase the Northern Lights without constant packing and moving.
On successive evenings you head just outside the city to the AuroraCentre, a dedicated viewing spot away from the light pollution, where you wait for the sky to perform beside a wood stove or campfire.
Days are given over to the Yukon Wildlife Preserve and a soak at Eclipse Nordic Hotsprings, with free time to explore Whitehorse itself.
What you'll do
- Aurora viewing on successive nights at the AuroraCentre outside Whitehorse
- Warm up by a wood stove or campfire while you wait for the lights
- Photograph wildlife in its natural habitat at the Yukon Wildlife Preserve
- Soak at Eclipse Nordic Hotsprings
- Free time in Whitehorse for optional sightseeing and shopping
- Easy pace with one base for the whole trip — no changing hotels
- Aurora sightings depend on clear skies and are never guaranteed
- Private rooms throughout
Worth it if you're prepared for relentless early starts, limited sleep, and potential food gaps. Think twice if you need downtime or have mobility concerns in extreme cold.
- Guides consistently brilliant: Lawrence, Kim, and Mariko named specifically for patience with camera settings and safety.
- First full day crammed with city tour, wildlife, and hot springs; jet lag makes early pacing brutal. Friday left empty.
- Relentless schedule means minimal sleep and eating logistics are tricky; hotel restaurants close early, no room service offered.
- No transport between activities means walking in extreme cold; outhouse facilities at Aurora Centre cramped and slippery flooring.
