Small Group Northern Lights Hunt & Glacier Lagoon Tour

Start & end in Reykjavik 5 days Up to 25

About this trip

This is a five-day loop around south Iceland by coach, built around two things: the Golden Circle's big-name sights and a genuine shot at seeing the Northern Lights. You're based two nights in an Icelandic country hotel and two in Reykjavík, with days spent moving between waterfalls, black beaches and a glacier lagoon.

It's an easy-paced, fully guided trip with a small group (up to 25) and a professional driver who knows the roads, so you're not white-knuckling it through Icelandic winter conditions yourself. Good for families or anyone who'd rather look out the window than navigate.

Northern Lights sightings depend entirely on the weather and sky, but the itinerary is designed to give you the best chance, alongside daytime stops that would be worth the trip regardless.

What you'll do

  • Walk through Þingvellir National Park, a UNESCO World Heritage site
  • See Geysir erupt and Gullfoss thunder into the Hvítá canyon
  • Visit Jökulsárlón glacier lagoon and walk Diamond Beach's ice-strewn black sand
  • Stand behind Seljalandsfoss and take in Skógafoss's cascade
  • Walk Reynisfjara's black sand beach and basalt columns near Vík
  • Visit Friðheimar's geothermal greenhouses to see tomatoes grown year-round
Good to know
  • Small group capped at 25, travelling in a full-size coach with no strict luggage limits
  • Northern Lights viewing is weather dependent and not guaranteed
  • Blue Lagoon entry and a Blue Ice Cave excursion on Vatnajökull are optional extras, not included in the base price
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want hassle-free winter Iceland with strong scenic payoff and a capable guide. Think twice if you crave genuine group bonding or five full days of activity.

  • Guide goes above and beyond to find beautiful spots; small group size keeps it from feeling chaotic.
  • Three days of actual touring compressed into five-day itinerary; minimal socialising or group interaction happens.
  • Scenery alone justifies the trip even if Northern Lights don't show; everything runs smoothly and sorted.
  • Pre-tour meet-and-greet missing; you'll likely leave not knowing fellow travellers' names despite spending days together.
