About this trip
Four days out of Bucharest through the heart of Transylvania, taking in the castles and mountain roads that built the Dracula legend. You travel by small group with an English-speaking guide, mixing castle visits with medieval towns and proper mountain scenery.
The route covers Bran Castle, Corvin Castle and Peles Castle, along with the Carpathian Mountains and, when open, the Transfagarasan Road. You also get time in Sighisoara, the walled UNESCO town where Vlad the Impaler was born.
It's a manageable pace with guided walking tours built in alongside free time to wander squares, sit in cafes and browse the shops. Departures run even with a small group, so it's a solid pick if you want structure without a big crowd.
What you'll do
- Tour Bran Castle, long linked to the Dracula legend
- Visit Corvin Castle and Peles Castle
- Drive the Transfagarasan Road through the Carpathian Mountains (July–October, weather permitting)
- Walk the medieval streets of UNESCO-listed Sighisoara, birthplace of Vlad the Impaler
- Free time in historic town squares for cafes and browsing shops
- Peles Castle is closed Mondays and Tuesdays — you'll see it and its gardens from outside only on those days
- The Transfagarasan Road is only included for tours running July to October, and only if weather allows
