About this trip
Five days through Chiapas, one of Mexico's most striking and history-dense regions. You'll move between ancient Maya ruins, dramatic canyon scenery, and colonial towns still shaped by indigenous traditions.
The pace covers a lot of ground — archaeology, boat rides, market towns, lakes and waterfalls — so expect each day to bring something different rather than long stretches to unwind.
It's a guided group trip, well suited to those who want a structured introduction to the region without planning the logistics themselves.
What you'll do
- Explore the Maya ruins at Palenque
- Sail through the Sumidero Canyon
- Wander the streets of San Cristóbal de las Casas
- Visit the indigenous communities of San Juan Chamula and Zinacantán
- See the turquoise waters of the Montebello Lakes
- Swim beneath the Chiflón waterfall
- Fast-paced — a new site or activity most days
- Fully guided, so good for those who'd rather not organise transport between towns
- Involves some walking and a boat trip, so a reasonable level of fitness helps
