About this trip
Five days combining two of Uganda's stronger wildlife areas, run as a private trip so it's just you (and whoever you're travelling with) and your guide throughout. The pace mixes big game drives with gorilla trekking, so you get both the primate encounter and the wider safari scene.
Queen Elizabeth National Park anchors most of the trip, with a boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel, chimp tracking in Kyambura Gorge and a search for the tree-climbing lions of Ishasha. From there you head to gorilla habituated forest, and afterwards meet a local Batwa community.
The tour starts and ends in Kigali, Rwanda, so you'll cross the border into Uganda as part of the itinerary.
What you'll do
- Afternoon boat cruise on the Kazinga Channel watching hippos, buffalo and birdlife
- Track chimpanzees on foot through Kyambura Gorge
- Search for tree-climbing lions in the Ishasha sector of Queen Elizabeth National Park
- Trek to see mountain gorillas up close
- Meet the local Batwa pygmy community after the trek
- Watch the sunset over Lake Edward
- This is a private tour, so timings and pace can flex around your group
- Involves a border crossing between Rwanda and Uganda
- Gorilla trekking means a real hike through forest terrain, so a reasonable level of fitness helps
