About this trip
Nine days across Morocco, from imperial capitals to the Sahara, without doubling back on yourself. You start in Rabat and finish in Marrakech, taking in coast, mountains, desert and medieval cities along the way.
Highlights include the blue streets of Chefchaouen, the Roman ruins of Volubilis, and the medieval alleys of Fes with its centuries-old souks and universities. Then the landscape shifts entirely as you head into the Sahara around Merzouga and through the Todra gorge.
On the way to Marrakech you pass through Ouarzazate and stop at Ait Benhaddou, the kasbah used as a filming location for Gladiator and Game of Thrones. The tour ends in Marrakech itself, with its markets, monuments and nightlife.
