About this trip
Eight days based in one place, walking daily into two national parks — Fanes-Sennes and Dolomiti di Sesto — with an International Mountain Leader guiding the way. The Dolomites are dramatic country, all jagged limestone peaks, and the days build towards the three spires of Tre Cime di Lavaredo.
You're staying put in Villabassa, a traditional Tyrolean village, rather than moving hotel each night. Home base is Hotel Adler, a 400-year-old building with a spa and a serious kitchen — it now has ties to a three-Michelin-starred restaurant, with masterclasses and discounts on offer for guests.
This is a walking holiday first — some departures are rated Activity Level 5, so check the itinerary if you want the tougher end of it.
What you'll do
- Trek through Fanes-Sennes and Dolomiti di Sesto national parks
- Walk with an International Mountain Leader
- Take in the three spires of Tre Cime di Lavaredo
- Base yourself in the Tyrolean village of Villabassa for the week
- Unwind at Hotel Adler's spa after daily hikes
- Access discounts and masterclasses tied to a three-Michelin-starred restaurant
- One base for the whole week rather than changing hotels
- Some departures are rated Activity Level 5 (Challenging) — check dates if you want an easier pace
Worth it if you're a keen hiker seeking proper mountain knowledge and stellar guides in a small-group setting. Think twice if you want lighter dinners or dislike early starts on alpine terrain.
- Guides (Anna, Rob, Karl, Alina) consistently praised for geology, history, local culture knowledge and genuine passion.
- Hotel Adler in Villabassa delivers exceptional food, quiet village setting, indoor pool, gym, and memorable wine cellar dinners.
- Multi-course dinners every evening felt excessive to some; lighter one or two-course option would suit post-hike fatigue better.
- Late September brings unpredictable weather: warm opening days followed by first snow mid-week; pack layers.
