Walking in Andalucia

Start & end in Algamitas 8 days Up to 16

About this trip

This is a week of walking through rural Andalucia, well away from the well-trodden route between Seville, Cordoba and Granada. Expect rugged hills, sunflower fields, olive groves and limestone peaks, with a rustic farmhouse as your base for the week.

You stay put in one place — a cortijo in the agricultural heartland, kept exclusively for the group — and walk out into the surrounding countryside each day, including the Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park and El Chorro gorge.

One day is set aside to explore Seville itself, a change of pace from the walking that fills the rest of the week.

What you'll do

  • Walk the limestone peaks of Sierra de Grazalema Natural Park
  • Cross the cliffside walkway of El Caminito del Rey
  • Explore El Chorro gorge on foot
  • Stay at a rustic cortijo reserved exclusively for the group
  • Spend a full day exploring Seville
Good to know
  • Centre-based — you stay at one farmhouse for the week rather than moving between hotels
  • Runs at two different activity levels (Leisurely & Moderate, or Moderate & Challenging) — check which one applies to your departure date, as the daily walking and itinerary differ
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you want leisurely walks, reliable sunshine, and a relaxing farmhouse base. Think twice if you need varied food from day one, crave authentic local interaction, or prefer longer/steeper hikes.

  • Staying put at Cortijo Rosario eliminates packing hassle; home-cooked, locally sourced meals and pool access between walks.
  • Guides consistently knowledgeable and attentive to fitness levels; Pass of the Doves walk and Grazelema Mountains standout moments.
  • First two nights' food disappointing; remoteness means limited local interaction and laundry facilities sparse, plan accordingly.
  • Walks are moderate, around 6 miles daily; if you want challenging terrain or steep ascents, look elsewhere.
