About this trip
A long overland route through Mexico's ancient and colonial heartland, starting in Mexico City and finishing after crossing into Guatemala and Belize. You move by coach between sites, with a mix of big cities, ruins and smaller colonial towns.
Expect Aztec, Zapotec and Maya history throughout, from Palenque's jungle temples to Tikal across the border, alongside time in Oaxaca and San Cristobal de las Casas to see how people actually live and eat.
Some departures are timed around Dia de los Muertos, if you want to see that particular celebration rather than just the ruins and markets.
