About this trip
Nepal's pull is the Himalayas, and this two-week route takes you through the country's spine of mountains, valleys and lowland jungle without trying to cram in more than you can properly take in.
You'll spend time in Kathmandu itself, then move out to a medieval UNESCO city, a hill town built for sunrise views, and Chitwan's jungle for a change of pace and scenery. Peaceful lakeside towns and ancient religious sites fill in the gaps.
It's a fully guided group trip pitched at a moderate pace, with your own private room throughout rather than shared dorms.
What you'll do
- Explore the medieval streets of Bhaktapur in the Kathmandu Valley
- Watch sunrise over the Himalayas from the hill town of Nagarkot
- Jungle walk and jeep safari in Chitwan National Park tracking one-horned rhinos, sloth bears and leopards
- Wander Kathmandu's old city and its temples
- Stop in peaceful lakeside towns along the route
- Moderate pace overall, with a mix of travel days and activity days
- Private room included, so no need to share unless you want to
- Fully guided throughout as part of a small group
Worth it if you want genuinely memorable wildlife encounters and Himalayan views. Think twice if you need guaranteed close-up animal sightings—luck plays a big part.
- Chitwan's wildlife experiences genuinely deliver: rhino canoe trips and elephant safaris create unforgettable moments.
- Sunrise Himalayan views from Nagarkot and the World Peace Pagoda hike are the kind of peaceful highlights that stick with you.
- Wildlife sightings depend heavily on luck; reviewers acknowledge being very fortunate with rhino encounters—not guaranteed.
- Patan museum costs extra but reviewers felt it shouldn't be optional; budget accordingly for add-ons.
