About this trip
Six days on the road from Addo through the Garden Route and Route 62 to the Cape Winelands, with a driver-guide who stays with you the whole way. It's built around wildlife, coastline and food and wine rather than one single sight, so the days mix game viewing with beach walks, caves and wine estates.
You'll spend nights in Addo, Knysna, Oudtshoorn and the Winelands, staying in four-star guest houses, lodges or apartments. Breakfasts are included throughout, along with a number of lunches, dinners and entry fees for the activities in the itinerary.
This suits people who want the sights strung together for them without self-driving, and who like a slower pace of a few nights in each place rather than a new bed every night.
What you'll do
- Look for elephants and the rest of the Big 5 in Addo Elephant National Park
- Watch for whales and dolphins at Plettenberg Bay
- Walk beaches at Natures Valley among ancient forest and giant Yellowwood trees
- Take a boat cruise through the Knysna Heads and browse the Waterfront
- Explore the Cango Caves and meet the ostriches around Oudtshoorn
- Taste wines, oysters and juices at estates in the Cape Winelands
- A private or small-group tour with the same driver-guide throughout
- Requires a minimum of two travellers to run — solo travellers should check availability before booking
- An optional extra night can be added to cover Cape of Good Hope, Boulders Penguin Colony, Chapmans Peak and Table Mountain
Worth it if you value a flexible, knowledgeable guide who adapts the itinerary and finds value for money. Think twice if you're booking solo and need built-in group energy.
- Paul actively reshapes the itinerary to match what you actually want, not just what's scheduled.
- Guide has genuinely useful local knowledge: best times to visit spots, budget restaurant tips, how to navigate tourist hotspots.
- Solo travellers report loneliness despite guide's efforts; this is a private tour, not a group experience.
- Adding an extra day in Cape Town worth budgeting for; not included in standard six-day package.
