About this trip
A week of walking based in the seaside town of Kas, taking in sections of the Lycian Way as it winds through forest, hills and coastline on Turkey's Turquoise Coast.
You'll cover ancient ruins, quiet coves and olive groves on foot, with time to cool off in the Mediterranean along the way. Staying in one base for the week means you unpack once and head out each day rather than moving hotels.
There's a good mix of nature and history here, from Roman ruins to a lunch stop with a local family in the Taurus Mountains.
What you'll do
- Walk sections of the Lycian Way past ancient tombs and coves
- Hike in the Taurus Mountains with lunch at a local family's home
- Visit the golden sands and Roman ruins of Patara, including Nero's lighthouse
- Swim in the Mediterranean along the coastal route
- Base yourself in the seaside town of Kas for the week
- Fully guided and rated moderate, with daily walking rather than long transfers
- Single-base trip — you stay in Kas throughout rather than changing hotels
- Runs over Christmas and New Year for those wanting to spend the holidays walking
Worth it if you're a keen walker after stunning coastal scenery and excellent guides. Think twice if you need spacious rooms or predictable daily routines.
- Guides Nebil, Zeb and Zeynap consistently deliver knowledge, personality, flexibility with breaks and unexpected treats like sunset at Kas amphitheatre.
- Lycian Way walks offer genuinely exceptional coastal scenery, desolate beaches for swimming, mountain views to Akdag, wildflowers and local hospitality throughout.
- Hotel rooms are small for a week-long stay; breakfast variety could improve over seven consecutive days.
- Mountain roads require confident driving; timing visits during spring wildflower season noticeably enhances the walk experience.
