Backpackers guided tour to Pakistan

A 20-day overland circuit through Northern Pakistan, covering more ground than most tours attempt in one go. You start and end in Islamabad, with long road days linking valleys, glaciers, and mountain ranges across the Himalayas, Karakorams, and Hindukush.

This is a proper backpacker route rather than a polished sightseeing trip — Naran Kaghan, Fairy Meadows, Hunza, Skardu, Ghizer, Phander, Chitral, Kalash, and Swat all feature, with plenty of driving between them. Expect big landscapes, remote communities, and a group of fellow young travellers up for the distance involved.

It suits people who want to see as much of the north as possible in a single trip and don't mind long overland stretches to do it.

What you'll do

• Drive the Karakoram Highway to Khunjerab Pass, the world's highest border crossing at 4600m
• Trek towards Nanga Parbat base camp, the 9th highest peak on earth
• Hike to Batura Glacier, one of the largest glaciers outside the polar regions
• Explore Hunza and Skardu, including their old fortresses
• Visit the Kalasha community in northern Chitral
• Wander the tourist streets of Karimabad, Skardu, and Chitral
