Rockies Hiking & Camping Tour

Start & end in Calgary 12 days Up to 12

About this trip

Twelve days of hiking and camping through four of the Canadian Rockies' national parks — Banff, Jasper, Yoho and Kootenay — with a local guide leading the way. The focus is on getting off the road and onto the trails, since only a fraction of Banff is actually accessible by car.

You'll still hit the well-known viewpoints, but most of your time is spent working through a proper hiking itinerary rather than sitting on a bus between photo stops. Camping is central to the experience, and meals are built around local produce, meat and seafood sourced from farms near each stop.

It's designed as a small group trip open to solo travellers, pairs and friends, with hikes pitched for a mix of abilities. Days balance hard walking with downtime, including a soak in hot springs, and there's room to add on rafting, horseback riding or mountain biking if you want more.

What you'll do

  • Hike trails across Banff, Jasper, Yoho and Kootenay National Parks
  • Camp out through the Rockies rather than staying in towns
  • Soak in natural hot springs after a day on the trail
  • Eat meals built from Western Canadian farm produce, meat and seafood
  • Optional add-ons like whitewater rafting, horseback riding or mountain biking
  • Get well beyond the road-accessible 3% of Banff into genuinely wild terrain
Good to know
  • Hiking-focused and camping-based throughout — expect to be outdoors and on your feet most days
  • Pitched at all fitness levels from beginner to experienced hiker, guided throughout
  • Core gear and camping kit are provided — you mainly need suitable shoes, clothing and a day pack
