Hiking in the Canadian Rockies

Eight days of hiking through the Canadian Rockies, camping along the way and covering some of the region's best-known trails and parks. Expect snow-capped peaks, glacial lakes and long days on your feet, with a local leader guiding the route.

This is a proper hiking trip rather than a scenic bus tour — daily distances range from 3.2 km to 11 km, some with significant elevation gain, and you'll need a good level of fitness and the right gear. Camping is part of the experience too, so you'll pitch in with setting up tents and preparing meals alongside the group.

You'll move through Mt Robson, Jasper, Banff and Yoho National Parks, taking in the Icefields Parkway and some of the most photographed landscapes in Canada.

What you'll do

• Hike the Kinney Lake Trail beneath Mt Robson, the highest peak in the Canadian Rockies
• Explore Jasper National Park and look for wildlife around Maligne Lake
• Walk the trails of Banff and Yoho National Parks
• Travel the Icefields Parkway
• Wander the landscapes around Lake Louise
• Camp out each night, helping with tent pitching, meals and clean-up
