About this trip
Four days sailing Thailand's west coast aboard a small catamaran, from Ko Phi Phi Le down to Phuket. The focus is on the islands themselves — quiet bays and beaches away from the day-tripper boats, with time in the water and long stretches just watching the coastline go by.
You're on a G Adventures-exclusive catamaran carrying 18 passengers, so it stays a small group throughout. Meals are freshly prepared on board using local ingredients, and much of the trip is unstructured time to swim, snorkel, or simply relax on deck.
What you'll do
- Start at Ko Phi Phi Le, the island used as the filming location for The Beach
- Snorkel in clear water off Thailand's western coast
- Anchor in quieter bays away from the main tourist boats
- Sail through the islands en route to Phuket
- Eat freshly prepared local meals on board
- Sailing on a small, 18-passenger catamaran rather than a large boat
- Private cabin included, so you're not sharing a room
- Works well as a short add-on to a longer Thailand trip rather than a stand-alone holiday
Worth it if you want a relaxed sailing experience with excellent crew and comfort. Think twice if you expect deep island exploration or cultural insight.
- Crew creates genuinely relaxed vibe; staff are attentive, flexible, and knowledgeable about waters and wildlife.
- Limited actual island exploration; most time spent on boat. Early morning beach visits brief; guide had apparent restaurant kickbacks.
- Expensive for content delivered. Guide offered minimal historical or cultural context despite visiting multiple islands.
- Snorkelling available but spots could be better; seasickness possible in choppy waters. Food and gear quality consistently strong.
