Sri Lanka & Maldives Adventure

Negombo → Male 14 days Up to 14

About this trip

This trip splits into two distinct halves: a week exploring Sri Lanka's cultural highlights by land, followed by a week sailing the Maldives aboard a traditional dhoni boat.

On the Sri Lanka side you'll take in a safari in Udawalawe National Park and the cultural sites of Negombo and Kandy, travelling as part of a small group with a guide throughout.

The second week shifts pace entirely, cruising between small atoll islands, snorkelling reefs and spending time on quiet white-sand beaches.

What you'll do

  • Safari drive through Udawalawe National Park
  • Explore the cultural sites of Kandy
  • Time in the coastal town of Negombo
  • Sail between Maldives atolls aboard a traditional dhoni boat
  • Snorkel in the Maldives' reefs
  • Relax on white-sand island beaches
Good to know
  • Two very different halves — active cultural touring in Sri Lanka, then a slower-paced boat week in the Maldives
  • Fully guided throughout, travelling as a group
  • Suits those wanting both culture and beach time rather than one or the other
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you value hassle-free group travel with strong guides and authentic access. Think twice if you prefer a slower pace through Sri Lanka.

  • Guides consistently praised as top-notch; organisation and logistics handled seamlessly throughout.
  • Maldives dhoni trip was perfect; Sri Lanka revealed special places you'd struggle to find independently.
  • Sri Lanka portion felt rushed and disjointed; pace may be relentless for those wanting depth.
  • Group travel is non-negotiable here; requires comfort with shared accommodation and socialising.
