About this trip
This 16-day trip covers a lot of ground, starting in Delhi and Agra before heading up into the hills of North East India and across the border into Bhutan.
You'll take in the classic sights — the Taj Mahal, Darjeeling's tea country and viewpoints, Sikkim's monasteries — before finishing with a proper look at Bhutan through Thimphu, Punakha and Paro.
It's a broad, sightseeing-led route rather than a slow one, built around covering the major landmarks of both countries in a single trip.
What you'll do
- See the Taj Mahal in Agra
- Watch sunrise over the Himalayas from Tiger Hill in Darjeeling
- Visit Buddhist monasteries and browse markets in Darjeeling
- Explore Gangtok's monasteries, Tibetan sites and flower orchards in Sikkim
- Travel through Bhutan taking in Thimphu, Punakha and Paro
- Covers a lot of distance across India and Bhutan, so expect regular travel days between stops
- Sightseeing-focused pace, good fit if you want a broad overview rather than time to linger in one place
