About this trip
Twenty days of overland travel through Madagascar's south, from the highlands down to the coast, on a route that takes in remote villages and landscapes most travellers never reach.
You start by crossing the highlands, then take a train down to Manakara, passing waterfalls and small settlements along the railway before joining the Pangalanes waterway. From there the route continues by 4x4 along the coastal track from Fort-Dauphin to Tuléar.
This is a trip about the journey itself as much as the destinations, with long tracks, changing scenery, and genuine contact with local communities along the way.
