Acatenango volcano on Share tour 3 days/

Start & end in Guatemala City 3 days Up to 10

About this trip

Three days built around one big night: hiking Acatenango and camping within sight of Fuego, an active volcano that puts on its own show after dark.

You base yourself in Antigua the night before, then get picked up for the climb itself — a long, demanding hike up through changing terrain and weather, rewarded with a tented camp at altitude looking straight across at Fuego.

This operator runs the route more than most, so the guiding and camp routines are well practised, and they pack out everything they bring in rather than leaving gear on the mountain.

What you'll do

  • Stay a night in Antigua Guatemala before the climb
  • Hike Acatenango with a professional guide team
  • Camp in tents at altitude facing Fuego Volcano
  • Watch Fuego's activity from camp, weather permitting
  • Descend back down after the overnight on the mountain
Good to know
  • A genuinely challenging hike — go in with realistic fitness expectations
  • Weather on the volcano is unpredictable, rain or shine, so pack for both
  • Camping gear is carried up and packed out, leave-no-trace style
