About this trip
An 11-day voyage south over New Year, sailing aboard the ice-strengthened Ocean Nova into the Antarctic Peninsula, South Shetland Islands and Weddell Sea. You cross into the new year surrounded by ice rather than fireworks, with an expedition team on hand throughout.
Days are shaped by the weather and the wildlife, not a fixed schedule. Expect Zodiac excursions out among icebergs, glaciers and snow-capped peaks, with penguins, seals, whales and seabirds as regular company.
This is expedition travel — the ship becomes home for the trip, and the mood is one of watching, learning and adapting to whatever the ice and weather allow that day.

- Itinerary is weather-dependent and sites may change at short notice — flexibility is part of the trip
- Wet, cold Zodiac excursions and landings on uneven or icy ground require a reasonable level of mobility
- Seasickness is possible in rough seas; a doctor is on board and over-the-counter medication usually helps
