Exploring Antarctica's Spring (Ocean Albatros)

Spring in Antarctica means fewer ships and wildlife just getting going — penguins pairing up and building nests, seabirds and whales showing up in numbers. This 11-day expedition takes you across the Drake Passage to the South Shetland Islands and the Antarctic Peninsula aboard the Ocean Albatros, an ice-strengthened ship built for these waters.

Days are shaped by the Expedition Team, who run onboard talks and get you out on Zodiac cruises and landings to see the wildlife and landscape up close. You can also take part in Citizen Science projects alongside the crew.

This is expedition travel, so the itinerary bends to the weather — sites may swap for other equally striking spots among the nearly 200 landing points in the region, and rough seas can mean a day spent aboard instead.
