About this trip
Four days on two wheels through Central Otago, following the old rail trail from Queenstown out into gold-mining country. It's flat-to-rolling riding through open plains, past rivers, with plenty of time to stop for a pint in a local tavern along the way.
The route links up small towns with real history — Alexandra, Omakau, Wedderburn, Hyde — the kind of places built around the old gold rush that now mostly serve cold beer and good stories to cyclists passing through.
This is a moderate, sociable ride rather than a race. One leader rides with the group throughout, and your luggage is moved between stops by vehicle each day.
