   Day 1 · BarcelonaBarcelona

   

   You arrive in Barcelona for a 6 pm welcome meeting. If you get in early, wander the Gothic Quarter, visit the Picasso Museum or stroll La Rambla. After the meeting, join your group for cava or vermouth in a local bar, or do a tapas crawl sampling Catalan bites.

   Day 2 · BarcelonaBarcelona

   Join locals on a market visit and tapas tour through Barcelona's street life and stalls, learning about the city's food culture. Afternoon is free to explore Gaudi's Casa Mila, La Sagrada Familia or the Gothic Quarter's alleys, ending with red wine from a traditional porron.

   Day 3 · LogronoLogrono

   Travel by train east to Logrono in La Rioja wine region, sitting on the Ebro River and home to Spain's finest tapas bars. Do an orientation walk, visit a local winery for tasting, then go on a pintxos crawl sampling grilled chorizo, wild mushrooms and local wines at each stop.

   Day 4 · San SebastianBasque Country

   

   Head to San Sebastian, a coastal food-obsessed city in Basque country. Explore the Parte Vieja's alleyways between bay and river, then settle into your farm stay. Eat a traditional Basque dinner featuring marmitako, bacalao al pil-pil or txuleton.

   Day 5 · San SebastianBasque Country

   Visit Ondarroa Port, a fishing village where you'll walk the waterfront and market, learning about fishing work and women's historical role in the industry. Select your own fish to cook later, then prepare it with local vegetables back at your farm stay in a cooking class.

   Day 6 · Picos de Europa National ParkOviedo

   Visit an organic cider house in Picos de Europa National Park to learn the artisanal process from apple to glass, taste varieties including Ice Cider, and eat lunch with apples as the star ingredient. Travel to Oviedo, Asturias's capital, for an orientation walk through the medieval Old Town past pre-Romanesque churches.

   Day 7 · A CoruñaSantiago de Compostela

   

   Bus to A Coruna in Galicia along the scenic coast, visit the Praza de Lugo fish market and eat fresh seafood lunch. End in Santiago de Compostela, Galicia's capital and pilgrimage destination believed to hold St James. Walk the arcaded stone streets of the Old District past the archbishop's palace and cathedral.

   Day 8 · Santiago de CompostelaSantiago de Compostela

   Travel to Cambados, a seafood and white wine municipality in Galicia. Join a shellfish workshop learning the ancient harvesting trade, then visit a canning factory to watch production and taste products paired with local wines. Celebrate your final Northern Spain night with a group dinner.

   Day 9 · PortoPorto

   

   Arrive in Porto, Portugal's coastal city with a medieval riverside, azulejo tiles and port wine. Attend a 6 pm welcome meeting, then have an included dinner of francesinha, a hearty sandwich requiring knife and fork. Walk the riverfront or visit a wine cellar afterwards.

    Day 10 · PortoPorto

    Taste through Porto with a local guide starting with coffee and pastel de nata. Sample bolinho de bacalhau and wine in Ribeira District, grab a cachorrinho and beer at a tasco, then end at a mercearia with charcuterie and port wine. Afternoon is free to explore independently.

    Day 11 · DouroDouro Valley / Coa Valley

    Drive through Douro Valley to Quinta da Pacheca winery (operating since 1738) for a tour, picnic lunch with local cheeses and sausages, and wine tasting with port. Continue to Coa Valley's rewilded landscape and stay in a Castelo Rodrigo homestay, enjoying views and a home-cooked dinner with local produce.

    Day 12 · MarvaoAlentejo

    Drive south to medieval Marvao in Alentejo, known for centuries-old olive groves. Visit a local olive oil producer to learn the craft, taste the oil, eat a homemade lunch there, and plant your own olive tree. Drive to Castelo de Vide, one of Portugal's best-preserved medieval towns.

    Drive to Evora, Alentejo's capital, featuring a central Roman Temple. Do an orientation walk and eat lunch (bread soup and pork clam stew are local specialties). Travel to Lisbon arriving late afternoon, take a capital orientation walk and try ginjinha cherry liqueur. Evening is free to find authentic dinner or live fado.

• Guide: All group trips are accompanied by one of our group leader or local representative. The aim of the group leader or local representative is to take the hassle out of your travels and to help you have the best trip possible. Intrepid endeavours to provide the services of an experienced group leader or local representative however, due to the seasonality of travel, rare situations may arise where your group leader or local representative is new to a particular region or training other group leader or local representative. Your group leader or local representative will provide information on the places you are travelling through, offer suggestions for things to do and see, recommend great local eating venues and introduce you to our local friends. While not being guides in the traditional sense, you can expect them to have a broad general knowledge of the places visited on the trip, including historical, cultural, religious, and social aspects. At Intrepid we aim to support local guides who have specialised knowledge of the regions we visit. If you are interested in delving deeper into the local culture at a specific site or location then your group leader or local representative can recommend a local guide service in most of the main destinations of your trip. , EUROPEAN LEADERS: Intrepid trips in Europe are accompanied by one of our local European group leaders. ’Local’ in this context means a leader who is European or lives in Europe. We also aim to support local guides in the individual cities or locations we travel to. If you are interested in delving deeper into the local culture at a specific site or location then your leader can recommend an optional local guide service in most of the main destinations of your trip.

• Accommodation: The style of accommodation indicated in the day-to-day itinerary is a guideline only and may change. On some occasions, alternative arrangements may need to be made due to the lack of availability of rooms in our preferred accommodation. In these cases, we will use a similar standard of accommodation. Throughout the trip, we request that our properties prepare rooms in time for our arrival, especially if we're arriving prior to normal check-in time. However, this isn't always possible which means we won't be able to check-in immediately on arrival at some hotels. Instead, we can store our luggage and explore our new destination or on some trips, have use of shared day rooms until all rooms are available., EUROPEAN HOTELS: Hotels in Europe often don't have double beds, but rather two single beds that can be pushed together/apart. Rooms can be rather small, especially by American or Australian standards. Your accommodation may not always have private en suite facilities or air-conditioning.
