About this trip
This is a 22-day overland journey through southern Africa, starting at Victoria Falls and finishing in Cape Town, taking in some of the region's most dramatic landscapes along the way.
You'll travel by purpose-built overland vehicle with a small group, camping most nights and helping set up your own tent. Days range from wildlife-watching drives to quiet river cruises to climbing dunes, with plenty of early starts to make the most of safari time or cover long distances.
Expect to rough it at times, with basic facilities in remote bush locations, but also real encounters with the people and wildlife that call this region home, from mokoro polers on the Okavango Delta to the San people of Namibia.
What you'll do
- Stand before the thundering spray of Victoria Falls
- Glide through the Okavango Delta's waterways by mokoro
- Cruise the Chobe River past elephants and birdlife
- Climb Namibia's towering sand dunes
- Spot big cats, rhinos, zebras and antelope on Etosha National Park's plains
- Camp under open skies to the sounds of African wildlife
- This is an overland trip — you travel as a group in a purpose-built vehicle and set up your own tent most nights
- Expect early starts for wildlife viewing and long travel days
- Facilities are sometimes basic, especially during bush camping
Worth it if you value wildlife, professional guides, and diverse landscapes. Think twice if you need cultural depth, predictable driving hours, or dislike long days in transit.
- Guides Nash, Issa and Muriuki were genuinely informative, safe and made the experience fun throughout.
- Game parks and wildlife viewing were exceptional; the 22-day itinerary offers impressive variety across countries.
- Driving days can hit 15-16 hours with tent setup in darkness; brochure doesn't specify this clearly enough.
- Few cultural experiences or artisan visits; Vic Falls and Swakopmund feel padded with mainly adrenaline activities.
