Best of Cambodia: Phnom Penh to Siem Reap 5-Day Tour

Phnom Penh → Siem Reap 5 days Up to 12

About this trip

Five days covering Cambodia's capital and its temple city, with the history of Phnom Penh at the start and the temples of Angkor at the end.

You start in Phnom Penh with the Royal Palace, National Museum and Independence Monument, then head overland to Siem Reap, stopping at a floating village on Tonle Sap Lake along the way. The last full day is given over to Angkor Thom, Bayon and Angkor Wat itself.

It's a guided, fairly structured trip with transport and a guide sorted for you, plus a free day in Siem Reap to explore at your own pace before you leave.

What you'll do

  • Visit the Royal Palace, National Museum and Independence Monument in Phnom Penh
  • Cruise the Mekong River at sunset past the Royal Palace
  • Take a boat ride on Tonle Sap Lake and see a floating village
  • Explore Angkor Thom and the Bayon Temple's carved faces
  • Walk through Angkor Wat, the world's largest religious monument
  • Free time in Siem Reap to explore on your own
Good to know
  • Short trip focused on two cities — Phnom Penh and Siem Reap only
  • One full day is set aside with no fixed plans, so pace eases off toward the end
  • Guide and transport are arranged throughout
What travellers actually say

Worth it if you're after solid organization, knowledgeable guides, and value for money. Think twice if you're heat-averse or need perfectly English-fluent guides.

  • Guides consistently knowledgeable and professional; drivers reliably punctual across all transfers.
  • Expect significant walking in heat; one Phnom Penh hotel remote with minimal dining or shops nearby.
  • Some day-trip guides lacked expected English proficiency and subject expertise despite enthusiasm.
  • Siem Reap hotels pleasant but showing age post-pandemic; upgrade to 5-star available if budget allows.
