About this trip
This 19-day route runs from Hanoi down through Vietnam, across into Cambodia, and on to Thailand, taking in three countries' worth of temples, history and coastline along the way.
You'll cruise Halong Bay's limestone cliffs, wander the lantern-lit lanes of Hoi An, and take in Hue's old imperial sites before heading to the Mekong Delta. From there it's on to Siem Reap for Angkor Wat, Bangkok for its temples and markets, and finally the beaches and islands around Phuket.
It's a broad sweep of Southeast Asia rather than a deep dive into any one place, mixing history, culture, boat trips and some proper downtime by the sea.
What you'll do
- Overnight on a traditional junk boat in Halong Bay
- Wander Hoi An's old town and take a boat trip on the Thu Bon River
- Visit Hue's Citadel, Forbidden Purple City and the Tombs of the Emperors
- Explore the temples of Angkor Wat and Banteay Srey in Siem Reap
- See Bangkok's Wat Phra Kaew and Wat Pho
- Snorkel and relax on a boat trip around the Phi Phi Islands
- Covers three countries in 19 days, so you're changing base often
- Mix of cities, ancient sites and beach time rather than one single focus
- Billed as suitable for families as well as custom groups
Worth it if you want a seamlessly organised Southeast Asia overview with strong guides and iconic sights. Think twice if you're temple-fatigued, uncomfortable with war history focus, or need adventure activities over sightseeing.
- Legend Travel's organisation is genuinely slick—hotels, transfers, guides all coordinated without hassle or surprises.
- Guides like Danny Nguyen and Ngoai Ngu consistently exceed expectations, delivering knowledge and personal care throughout.
- Vietnam and Cambodia itinerary heavily emphasises war history and killing fields—genuinely depressing for some travellers.
- Food safety lapses reported: one traveller got food poisoning from Phuket hotel breakfast; mosquitoes and hygiene issues in some areas.
