Dalmatian Vis & Hvar Islands Walk

This is a self-guided walking holiday across two of Dalmatia's most rewarding islands, Vis and Hvar, with stops in Split and Dubrovnik bookending the trip. You walk at your own pace each day, following set routes between coastal towns, over hills and down to some of Croatia's best-known beaches.

Vis in particular gets under your skin — it took longer to open to tourism than most of the coast, so the trails, stone villages and coves feel less worn. Hvar brings a different character, all aromatic scrubland and sea views from its high points.

Expect seven half or full walking days of around 5-6 hours, with private transfers and ferries linking the islands, and evenings free to explore towns like Komiža, Stari Grad and Hvar Town on your own.

What you'll do

• Walk the trails of Vis, including the climb to Mt Hum at 587m
• Cross Hvar on foot up to Sveti Nikola at 628m
• Reach the beaches of Stiniva on Vis and Dubovica on Hvar
• Wander the old towns of Split and Dubrovnik, including Marjan Nature Park
• Explore coastal towns Vis, Komiža, Hvar and Stari Grad on foot
• Stay in small Mediterranean-style accommodations throughout
