About this trip
A self-guided cycling route through eastern Spain that links the coast to the mountains, taking in two natural parks along the way. You ride at your own pace over five days, covering 235km between Sagunto and Valencia.
The route mixes landscape with history — Roman ruins, a UNESCO-listed city, and natural landmarks most visitors to the region never see. It's private, so it's just you (or your group), following the route on your own schedule.
With 2400m of climbing across the trip, this is built for riders who already have some distance and hill-climbing under their belts rather than complete beginners.
What you'll do
- Cross the Sierra Calderona and Sierra de Espadán natural parks by bike
- See El Salto de la Novia waterfall
- Ride past Europe's longest underground navigable river
- Visit the Roman town of Sagunto
- Finish in Valencia, taking in its UNESCO-listed old town
- Self-guided and private — you set the pace, no group to keep up with
- Intermediate level with 2400m of climbing over 235km, so some cycling fitness helps
- Can be done any time of year
Worth it if you're after varied scenery and hassle-free logistics on e-bikes. Think twice if you dislike early starts or heat—late August can be intense.
- E-bikes genuinely transform the trip: you get proper exercise but reach places normal bikes can't, even for nervous first-timers.
- Logistics handled completely: guides transfer your bags between hotels, routes are pre-planned, landscape varies wildly—mountains, forest, coast, waterfalls, caves.
- Santi and Manu are the real deal: personalized attention, patient e-bike instruction, genuinely friendly without being cheesy.
- Late August timing brought extreme weather—one reviewer hit torrential rain; heat can be brutal, so timing matters for comfort.
