About this trip

This three-day route takes you overland from Fes to Marrakech, cutting through the Middle Atlas Mountains and out into the desert landscapes of the south. It's a fixed one-way journey rather than a loop, so each day brings new ground.

The centrepiece is a night in Merzouga, where you ride camels out to a camp in the Erg Chebbi dunes, watch the sun go down over the sand, and sleep out under the stars. Around that, you pass through Berber villages, palm oases, kasbahs and gorges on the drive south and west.

It's private and fully guided, so the pace is set around you rather than a fixed group, moving through the Dades Valley, Todra Gorge, Draa Valley and over the Tizi n'Tichka Pass before finishing in Marrakech.

What you'll do

  • Ride camels into the Erg Chebbi dunes for sunset
  • Sleep in a desert camp near Merzouga
  • Cross the Middle Atlas Mountains and stop in Berber villages
  • Walk through Todra Gorge and the Dades Valley
  • Drive the Draa Valley oases and kasbahs
  • Cross the Tizi n'Tichka Pass into Marrakech
Good to know
  • A lot of time is spent travelling by road between stops, with one overnight in the desert camp
  • Private tour, so timings and stops can be adjusted to suit you
  • One-way route ending in Marrakech, not a round trip back to Fes
