About this trip
This 10-day trip takes you across Nepal's main regions in one go, from the old cities of the valley to the hill country, down to the flat plains of the Terai.
Expect a mix of culture and nature: wandering through settlements shaped by different ethnic groups, walking hillside trails with Himalayan views, and time in Chitwan for wildlife and in Pokhara for boating on the lake.
It's a fully guided, easy-paced group trip, run by Outfitter Nepal, that works well as an introduction to the country's different landscapes and communities.
What you'll do
- Explore Kathmandu's old city and its traditional architecture
- Walk hillside trails with views of the Himalayas
- Wildlife safari in Chitwan National Park
- Boating on Phewa Lake in Pokhara
- Bird-watching and spotting local flora and fauna
- Visit ethnic settlements in the Terai plains
- Easy pace, suited to families and mixed-ability groups
- Fully guided throughout with a set group itinerary
Worth it if you get Kiran or Birohd as your guide and book recent trips. Think twice if accommodation standards and bus quality matter to you.
- Kiran consistently earns praise for deep local knowledge, problem-solving during monsoon, and genuine enthusiasm for Nepal itself.
- First hotel in Kathmandu unreliable: no hot water, broken windows, AC absent; management reportedly unhelpful when complained to.
- Three bus journeys used dirty local buses instead of tourist coaches, causing delays and discomfort during transfers.
- Guide consistency varies significantly; one 2017 tour had different guides daily and gaps with no activities in Pokhara and Chitwan.
