Southern Patagonia: El Calafate, El Chalten & Ushuaia

This is a journey through Argentina's Southern Patagonia, taking in three very different bases: El Calafate, El Chalten and Ushuaia. It's a region defined by empty land, glacial ice and a strong sense of being somewhere remote.

The trip moves at a sightseeing pace, mixing guided days with time to explore on your own, and works well if you want structure without being tied to a group the whole way.

Travelling over Christmas and New Year adds a different feel to towns that are usually quiet outposts, with the added backdrop of ice fields and mountains most of the year sees far fewer visitors.
